Overview

Visit and explore this small, charming coastal town and discover why National Geographic has ranked it among the ten most beautiful island cities in the world.

Trogir, a small town founded by Greek traders in the 3rd century B.C. and later taken over by the Romans, has been on the UNESCO list since 1997, largely because of a very well preserved medieval core that represents a unique blend of architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.

Your guide will take you through a labyrinth of small cobblestone streets that give this town its special charm and old Mediterranean appearance.

The itinerary includes a visit to the St. Lawrence Romanesque-Gothic cathedral, whose construction began in the 13th century, and is famous for its beautiful Radovan marble portal.

Just beside the cathedral stands the elegant Cipiko palace, once owned by the most important noble family of the town. Still on the central square, you will discover the 14th century City Loggia, as well as the church of St. Sebastian and its clock tower. Your guide will also show you the beautiful courtyard of the Town Hall, adorned with the coats of arms representing the influential noble families who played a significant role in the city’s history.

As you stroll towards the sunlit Trogir waterfront, you will pause for a moment in front of the Monastery of St. Nicholas, in existence for nearly ten centuries, where your guide will reveal its mysteries. After that you will exit to the southern part of the town through the medieval city gate.

Trogir’s waterfront promenade is an excellent place to sit down and relax, take a coffee and admire the city’s defensive walls and the massive Kamerlengo fortress, situated in the western part of the town and built in 15th century by Venetians.

During the tour, your guide will reveal the hidden secrets of the city and share some interesting facts, as well as recommend great places to eat or buy authentic local souvenirs.
